Bradys Bend Historical Society - Quilt Show

Bradys Bend Historical Society Quilt Show

The Bradys Bend Historical Society will hold its 34th and final annual quilt show on Saturday, August 15 at the St Stephens Old Stone Church, Bradys Bend, PA. The event will begin at 10 AM and end at 4 PM with a raffle drawing for four quilts.

Debbie McCanna, Society president, reports that there should be at least 70 quilts on display, although the exact count will not be available until the evening before the show. The quilts shown in past years have ranged from traditional pieced quilts to modern appliqued wall hangings, and have included many unique quilts designed by local needle artists.

This will be the last in a long history of quilt shows at the BBHS. Declining and aging membership is cited for the discontinuation..

Ribbons will be awarded in the categories of Piecework, Applique, Embroidery, Small Quilts, Miniatures, Historical Significance and Miscellaneous. Best-of-Show, Judge's Favorite and People's Choice quilts will also be selected. Anyone is invited to display quilts or quilted items, either new or antique. Quilt owners are asked to bring their quilts for display to St Stephen’s between 9 AM and 11 AM on FRIDAY August 14-no quilts can be hung the day of the show. There is no entry fee. Contact Debbie at 724-526-5693 by Wednesday to register your quilt before bringing it in.

In addition to the quilts there will be displays, items of interest, and quilting supplies representatives on hand. The Rivers’ Bend Quilters will display their 2015 Quilt Challenge entries and offer a flea market and basket auction.

A new quilting technique will be demonstrated at 11 am and again at 1:00 pm.

All-day admission to the event is $2 at the door. Lunch items will be available, including sandwiches and homemade pies. Come see one of the largest quilt displays in western Pennsylvania!
