Former East Brady Resident and History Making U.S. Air Force CMsgt Retires

CMsgt. LuWana Gail Hargis, daughter of Rick and Jan Staugh of Chicora, PA, retired from the United States Air Force on June 25, 2010 at Altus Air Force Base, Oklahoma, after 28 years of service. Gail and her husband, retired SMsgt. Christopher A. Hargis, have two children - Aaron 16 and Alyssa, 9.
Gail attended East Brady High School and following graduation in 1982 enlisted in the United States Air Force. She met her husband while stationed at Kadena Air Force Base,Okinawa. Chris is the son of James and Linda Hargis of Atlanta, Georgia.
Retired CMsgt LuWana Gail Hargis made Air Force history when she achieved the rank of CMsgt. on September 1, 2007. She was the first female CMsgt. of the fuels division in the entire history of the United States Air Force.
Since Gail was the first female CMsgt of the fuels division in the history of the Air Force, her picture will hang at the Fuels Specialist School at Sheppard Air Force Base, Wichita Falls, Texas.
While serving in the Air Force, Gail received a Bachelor Degree in Human Resource Management from Excelsior College.
