Parker Area Community Service Organization

With the closing of Parker Rotary in June 2011, the same members decided to attempt another approach to provide support for the Parker area in avenues such as the flags posted on the main drive through town, maintaining the GAR Cemetery, and the planting of flowers at Parker Presbyterian Cemetery at Memorial Day.  We have made some changes to how we meet such as 6:00 PM the FIRST Wednesday of the month, rather than weekly.  The meeting place remains the Parker House Hotel, with meals provided by the kitchen staff of the hotel.
The group has met since September (monthly), and our numbers are now at fifteen.  So we begin the year of 2012 as the official first year of Parker Area Community Service Organization or PACSO as shall be also known.  The annual dues will be $ 25.00 annually beginning the first Wednesday of January ( or for a full year if someone joins later). The dues shall be used for maintenance costs of the organization, and the group shall have the usual fund raisers such as sausage sales, etc. throughout the year.  Membership is limited only to persons having a desire to provide participation in service functions for the area.
Officers for 2012 are Joyce Laverick, president, Nancy Myers, vice-president, and Beth Gardner and Melinda Farrington, treasurer and secretary, respectively.  The latter agreed to serve as they held these posts in the former Rotary and have much experience in the two positions.
So, if you're one of those folks out there that have a little time to share your expertise to make the area a better place to live, join us the FIRST Wednesday of each month at 6:00 PM  at the Parker House Hotel for a time of service and fun.
