A Wonderful 'ACV' Cultural Event
If you were fortunate enough to attend the 2010 PMEA District 3 Band Festival Concert on February 12 and 13 at A.C.Valley High school, what an event – one to not forget.
Eight beautiful song arrangements – very professionally done – such an enjoyable evening.
It was stated that is has been 18 or 19 years since ACValley District has hosted the District Band Festival.
The scheduled week there were snow storm warnings – all week – coordinators had to monitor school closings and keep communications open with 31 participating school districts. 168 Students were to come to ACV Host families and or facilities on Wednesday February 10.
Due to weather conditions that day was cancelled – Thursday February 11 was to be an all day practice day – that day was cancelled but there were a few students came in on Thursday evening which again had to be re-coordinated with 31 schools and an estimated 25 host families and facilities.
Friday morning February 12 the remainder of the 153 of the students came to the school – practiced 1 day and had the concert on Friday evening at 7:30 followed by a 12:30 concert on Saturday afternoon.
What a wonderful cultural event for this area.
Now, all this didn’t just happen by chance – some great big “Thank Yous of Appreciation” go to Mr. Scott DiTullio, Host Director for A.C.Valley School District – who had the dream and pursued it and worked for many months to pull it together to make it happen at ACV.
Also, to Rhonda and Craig Ashbaugh who worked diligently and steady to coordinate all the student housing, also to Lori King for her help. Mrs. Brenda Brinker, ACV Superintendent – High School Principals, Custodians, ACV Music Boosters other ACV teachers and staff, and all the Host Families and Facilities.
And a special thanks to Dr. Stanley Michalski, former Professor of Music and Conductor of Bands at CUP, for taking his time to return from North Carolina to be the Guest Conductor for these two wonderful concerts.
Last but certainly not least, to all the talented music students from ACV and 30 other school districts who participated and to all the super parents who supported and transported and helped their talented music kids to be a part of this event.
This Festival at A.C.Valley School District brought so much musical talent together and created new friendships between 31 school districts who participated and also has given many of the students an opportunity to go to Regional Band competitions. Music will follow them thru life.
Again, Thanks –Mr. Scott DiTullio,Host Director for a great job of coordinating this event and making it happen.
Thanks- Rhonda and Craig Ashbaugh for coordinating all the student housing and making sure all the students were fed and housed and transported to the school from the Host Housing facilities.
WE ARE A-C VALLEY PROUD!
