Clarion County PASR School Enhancement Mini-Grant


Clarion County PASR exists to serve the needs of all school retirees and to bring about positive change within our communities. The Clarion chapter recognizes the important foundation laid by public education. They wish to support our public schools in their educational focus and encourage innovative classroom ideas and professional development. This $300 School Enhancement Mini-Grant will provide resources to support high-quality education by funding a variety of projects, both in and out of the classroom. There will be a minimum of one grant per year.

Foxburg Nature Festival This Weekend

Be sure to attend this year’s Foxburg Nature Festival on the weekend of May 10 and 11. This year’s festival is a combination of last year’s Maple Festival and the Nature Festival all rolled into one big festival.
You can enjoy the locally produced Maple Syrup first hand at the annual pancake breakfast at the Allegheny Grille tent or/and take home a bottle or two for home by visiting the Old State Farm Maple Syrup booth.

Allegheny-Clarion Valley Class of 2015 will host this year’s Prom on Saturday, May 10th.  The public is invited to attend the Grand March in the high school auditorium at 5:30 p.m. 
The theme of this year’s dance, which will be held in the high school gymnasium, is “Enchanted Forest”.

Adult Easter Egg Hunt In Foxburg A Sweet Success

It was a beautiful spring afternoon and almost 200 adult egg hunters converged on Foxburg Saturday April 19 for its first annual adult Easter egg hunt. The hunt sponsored by the Foxburg businesses to celebrate the spring season and support the Foxburg Library drew people from as far as Pittsburgh and suburbs such as Wilmerding as well as places in Ohio.

Donnie Keene III was born on January 28th, 2014 diagnosed with hypo plastic left heart syndrome. He has already had one open heart surgery when he was 10 days old, a second one will be in April, 2014 and a third one will be when he is 2 - 3 years old. The parents, Donne Keene Jr. and Cortnee Garvin, have been staying at the Ronald McDonald house while Donnie is undergoing treatment at Children's Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pa.

Cabaret Evening: Dane Vannatter and Friends

Allegheny RiverStone Center for the Arts will welcome the return of an audience favorite and friend, Dane Vannatter, nationally acclaimed vocalist and recording artist, on Saturday evening May 17, 7:00 PM at Foxburg’s Lincoln Hall.
Lincoln Hall will be aglow with nightclub cabaret-style seating and candlelight, a perfect setting for a relaxing night out.  Wine and cheese will be served.

The Keystone High School Prom will be held on Saturday, May 3, at the high school, with the Promenade and Crowning beginning at 6 p.m. and the Prom following at 7 p.m. This year’s theme is, “Under the Big Top.”

Local Fire Departments Fight Fire at Market in Eau Claire

Good Friday morning dawned in the hamlet of Eau Claire with an acrid smell of smoke in the air and a sense of sadness and loss. Thursday night, April 18th, the Eau Claire community witnessed the destruction of a landmark business to a devastating fire. The Delisio Market, formerly owned and operated by Gus Thompson for 31 years and before him by the Beatty family, engulfed and destroyed by flames. The building, almost 125 years old, was a general store, food market, and a community hub for generations.
