2021 Moniteau Warrior Baseball Team

2021 Moniteau Warrior Baseball Team

Thus far this season the 2021 Moniteau baseball team has had its share of success and setback. The Warriors started off on the right track as they team inked a respectable 9-2 record. Since April 28th however, head coach Ross Martin’s squad has found themselves in a three game skid. The Warriors have been competitive (6-4 loss against Clarion-Limestone), 7-5 loss against Karns City) in all games except an 18-1 defeat to a strong Punxsutawney team. As of press time, the young Warriors are 9-5 overall and 4-3 in theKeystone Shortway Conference.

Offensively, the Warriors are batting .287 as a team. Leading in the hit department has been Fr., Dawson Wallace (Inf., P.) with a .395 avg. Wallace also leads the team in hits with 17, 2b (4) and is second in rbi’s with 12. Fellow Fr., Keagan Book (C, Inf.) is close behind Wallace with a .372 hit avg.,on 16 hits. Jr., Branson Carson, (P, OF) is just under the .300 hit plateau at .298 in fourteen games. So., Brock Mathews is fourth on the team in hits with 11.

Sr., Mason Mershimer, (OF) has been consistent at the plate with 13 hits and 11 rbi’s as well as Sr., Tanner Williams (Inf.) who is batting .245 with 16 runs scored and 8 rbi’s.

Mershimer and Carson both have belted two home runs each to lead the team.

On the mound the pitching has been spread out with several different players picking up wins: So., Brock Mathews, 2-1 in 16.1 innings of work, Jr., Branson Carsonleads the team in strikeouts with forty seven and is 1-0 in five appearances; and Sr., Brady Thomspon has picked up two wins on the season with no losses in five appearances. Also picking up a win on the mound was Jr., Ray Dean (7appearances) and Fr., Dawson Wallace who is 1-1 in the three games he has appeared.

The Warriors have a positive run differential of 29 which has helped their cause in the win column.

The Warriors remaing schedule includes one home game against East Forest on May 10th and away games at Keystone on May 15th and May 18th at Clarion. Due to rain, make up games may also be scheduled.
