Twenty years ago in November of 2001, the Community Christian Thrift Store was founded and housed in the former Marion Township Elementary School in Boyers, Pennsylvania. As a result of hard work, the store moved to a space at the former Thompson’s Market, the former Argentine Methodist Church and to the current location.
Under the new leadership of Pastor Brent McMaster, from the Church of God of Prophecy (COGOP) in Six Points, Pennsylvania, the shop was relocated to the current home on Annisville RD in Petrolia. The Thrift Store has had many homes as it flourished and needed additional space.
The Community Christian Thrift Store is a ministry of the COGOP in Six Points and is managed by Debra Thompson and staffed by volunteers who are dedicated to the betterment and service to the community. Our customers are numerous and come from all areas of Western Pennsylvania. We often have out of state visitors as well.
Mrs. Virginia Thompson is a founding Mother and is still active today. You can see her smiling and loving face on Saturdays as she oversees the staff. Mrs. Marjorie Gold is also a founding Mother and worked until her health failed. These amazing women have made a difference for those in need and their community.
The mission is to aid and support our community and those in need. The causes are varied; such as donations to benefits for locals experiencing health problems, fire victims, victims of domestic violence, funerals, schools, local youth ball teams, and assistance with electric and fuel bills. The list is endless as is the need.
All inventory at the store is by donation. It is miraculous and unbelievable to see the amount of donations as well as the beautiful and useful items provided by neighbors. Come visit our little corner where you will receive a warm welcome and discover a treasure. The Community Christian Thrift Store is located at 1005 Annisville Rd., Petrolia PA. And the phone number is 724-894-0072.
