The Allegheny Valley Conservancy (AVC) is planning the annual Allegheny River clean-up. AVC and its partners will be hosting the river clean-up on August 22, 2020 from Henry’s Bend to Rockmere. We are looking for volunteers to help us take care of this important recreation asset that day and local community sponsors to assist with planning and implementation. The event will start at 9:00 a.m. and end at approximately 1:00 – 2:00 p.m.
Plan to get dirty, get wet and have fun while improving the river. Pre-registration is requested and can be done by e-mailing names and contact information by August 19, 2020 to firstname.lastname@example.org. Volunteers can also register the day of the event and all children must be accompanied by an adult. Safety is always important on the river. Participants can maintain social distance and only float and pick up trash in familiar groups. Volunteers must comply with all PA Fish & Boat laws and regulations.
The starting point is at 117 Oak Street, Oil City (Henry’s Bend 41.462726, -79.601190). Allegheny Valley Conservancy board members will be waiting at the Oil City Boat Club in Rockmere to collect all of the trash removed from the river and provide refreshments and prizes. AVC volunteers will also shuttle participants back to the starting point to pick up their vehicles.
The River is a wonderful resource for our region, so come help keep it beautiful. For more information or questions, go to AVC’s Facebook page at
