Aqua Pennsylvania Working To Improve Water Quality In Emlenton

Aqua Pennsylvania has been hard at work at the west end of Main Street in Emlenton, PA, along the banks of the Allegheny River. What you’re seeing is the installation of temporary intakes, for the town’s water system, that will keep the plant in service as Aqua prepares for the construction associated with the installation of the new, permanent, intakes. Following this, Aqua will construct a causeway that will enable them to access the area of the river where the intakes will be placed.
The existing wooden crib intake dates back to 1897. The new intake will consist of two modern screens that filter debris and other material and allow for a more reliable operation during varying flows and seasonal changes.
