Area Memorial Day Schedules

Changes to the Annual Memorial Day Programs hosted by VFW Post #7073 and American Legion Post #598 have been approved for this year only. To the folks of West Monterey, Dutch Hill, Concord, Callensburg, West Freedom, Perryville, “the bridge”, Eldorado, Six Points, Allegheny, GAR, and Parker Pres., we trust that you understand the need for safety of these Veterans who number from World War II through the present day. Therefore, only one service will be conducted on Monday, May 25 at 11:00 AM. at the Tablet in front of Parker Personal Care Home. The ceremony will consist of readings by both Commanders, prayers by Chaplains, Firing Squad, and Taps. This manner allows us to Honor our fellow comrades who paid the ultimate price for our country. Any Veteran who is Honorably Discharged is welcome to participate in this ceremony - whether in uniform or not. In NO way are we forgetting the Veterans of the other cemeteries, but this emergency situation requires “common sense” measures for this special day. The PUBLIC is WELCOME at this service providing the measures in effect are abided by - keeping safe distances, etc. Also, we ask visitors not to use the porch or patio in front of PPC or attempt to visit residents following the ceremony. In addition, a special CHURCH SERVICE was planned for West Freedom United Methodist Church (and charge) on Sunday, May 24th. This too has been CANCELLED due to conditions per the virus.
