Bitcoin Mining at Scrubrass Power Plant

Scrubgrass Grange

Bitcoin, blockchain, cryptocurrency – what do these terms have to do with the Scrubgrass Power Plant? A free informational meeting will be held at Scrubgrass Grange on Tuesday, June 21st at 7:00 pm, to learn about this mining activity. Brian Flinspach, Safety/Compliance Manager, and Jim Pierce Operations Manager of the Scrubgrass Reclamation Company will present the program.

The power plant was built in 1992 and initially provided electrical power to the grid but has recently changed focus and is now providing power to operate hundreds of computers involved with the cryptocurrency market.

The presentation is part of Scrubgrass Grange’s “Talking Tuesdays”, a free monthly meeting keeping people informed of local concerns and happenings. Scrubgrass Grange is located at 5104 Emlenton-Clintonville Rd., Emlenton, PA 15373. Everyone is welcome to attend.

The July 19th “Talking Tuesday” will be on Canning and Preserving presented by Penn State University. You can also bring your Pressure Canners to the meeting to have the pressure gauges checked for accuracy.
