Bruin Area Military Banner Project

Bruin Area Veterans’ Memorial Association [BAVMA] is coordinating the Bruin Area Military Banner Project honoring the United States Military and U.S. Veterans. This project is to show our appreciation and honor those who have served, or are currently serving, in any branch of the United States Armed Forces.

Criteria for eligibility includes; those on active duty in any United States armed services; any honorably discharged U.S. Veteran, during wartime or peacetime; and those who gave their lives while in military service for our country. Those honored do NOT need to be from, or have ever lived in, the Bruin Area. Military units may also be honored [ex. 101st Airborne].

A photo of the veteran in uniform is desired, but not required. Please note that wallet size photos do not enlarge as well as larger photos. Ideal size would be an 8" x 10". Larger photo = sharper, clearer enlargement. Sending a photo and signing the application gives us permission to print the photo.

The veteran’s picture [or unit insignia] will be on both sides of the banner, along with name, rank [if desired], branch of service, dates served and era of service [if applicable]. The cost for one 2’ x 3’ street banner is $130 and includes mounting hardware and hanging costs through the 2021 season. A 12" x 18" yard banner may be purchased for $30 each, when ordering a street banner with the same set-up.

Applications are available at the Bruin Station, Bruin Post Office, the NexTier Bank in Petrolia, or online at: Completed application, photo, and payment [cash or check only] may be taken to the Petroleum Valley Regional Water Authority Office at 100 Water Company Lane, Petrolia, (between the Petrolia VFD Social Hall and the Petrolia Medical Center) for scanning from 10:30 AM — 2:00 PM, Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays in June, beginning Tuesday June 9th.
