Butler County Announces Small Business COVID-19 Grant Program

Butler, PA, September 4, 2020 - Butler County is accepting U.S. CARES (Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security) grant applications from nonprofit organizations and small businesses to alleviate the financial impacts from the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

Among the eligible use of funds are payroll costs, continuation of group healthcare benefits, rent, utility payments, working capital covering reopening costs and expenses related to implementing measures in response to COVID-19.

Butler County has allocated $1 million to assist small businesses. The application period for the Butler County Small Business Grant Program opens 8 a.m. Monday, September 14, and ends 5 p.m. Friday, September 25. The maximum amount of grant funding is $25,000.

Eligible small businesses are physically located, certified to do business and generate at least 51 percent of its revenue in Butler County. They also must be founded no later than February 15, 2020 and have no more than 100 full-time equivalent employees prior to February 15.

Eligible nonprofit applicants must be operating in Butler County as shown in their legal addresses listed in the Internal Revenue Service Form 990, must deliver services in Butler County, must be a 501c3 or 501c19 operating in Butler County and must have been in operation no later than February 15, 2020.

Please note that businesses and nonprofit organizations that already received monies from the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP), Small Business Administration (SBA) loans and Economic Injury Disaster Loan (EIDL) are not eligible for this funding.
