Clarion Conservation District: National Agriculture Week Events
The Clarion Conservation District is holding two events in March to celebrate National Agriculture Week; a week to recognize and celebrate the contribution of agriculture in our economy and our everyday lives. Both events will be held on Wednesday, March 22nd at the DCNR Forestry Bureau (158 S. 2nd Ave. Clarion, PA).
The first event is a free “Conservation Workshop” from 12:00pm to 3:00pm directed towards farmers and landowners featuring presentations on the Conservation Reserve Enhancement Program (CREP), the Clean and Green Tax Assessment Program, the Keystone 10 Million Trees Partnership, riparian buffers and invasive species management, and information on the services the Clarion Conservation District can provide. Lunch and a soil test kit will be provided. Participants are welcome to come early and stay late. Agency partners, such as the Farm Service Agency (FSA), Natural Resource Conservation Service (NRCS), and the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) will be there early at 11:00am to answer questions. Stay late for the second event!
The second event is a free “National Agriculture Week Celebration” open to the community to attend to show appreciation for our local producers and learn about the work that they do. Local farmers will have tables set up representing their farm and the products they produce. Come check out the tables, ask questions, and thank a farmer!
Register for the Conservation Workshop by March 15th. Register a table for the National Agriculture Celebration by March 8th. Farmers registering a table must attend the Conservation Workshop. To register or ask questions, email hbequeathccd@gmail.com or call 814-393-6147.
