Dorothy Knight Burchett Book Signing at the Foxburg Free Library

Join Dorothy Knight Burchett at the Foxburg Free Library in Foxburg, at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, August 30, as she tells the story of how she was inspired to write her newspaper column, “On Sunny Lane,” which appears weekly in the Progress News in Emlenton. Learn how Sweetheart got his name.
The column deals with everyday experiences with wit, wisdom and inspiration. It first appeared in the New Castle News, in New Castle, in 2019 and the Progress News and the Leader Times in Kittanning the next year. The Herald, in Sharon, picked it up in 2021.
Knight Burchett lived in the Knox area for 43 years, where she wrote a similar column for the Clarion News, in Clarion, titled “On Huckleberry Ridge,” for 10 years. She attended St. Michael the Archangel Church in Emlenton. She was married to Jack Knight and had three children, Fred, Shirley and Jason.
After the death of her husband, she married Bob Burchett, whom she calls Sweetheart, and moved to New Castle.
Knight Burchett has written two books. “Miles and Miracles” is a journal of her solo trans-America trip to visit friends and relatives and the experiences she had along the way. She says, however, “I wasn’t alone. The Lord was with me.” The book also contains stories about life experiences that she considers to be more than coincidence.

She has compiled two years of Sunny Lane columns into her book, “Getting It All Together.”
She will have both books available after her talk and will sign all books purchased.
Knight Burchett will also do a presentation at New Castle Public Library,207 E. North Street, New Castle, at 6:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 23.
