Emlenton Rod & Gun Club and Commuity Help Make Fishing Derby a Success
Each year during the Emlenton Summer Festival, the Emlenton Rod & Gun Club holds their annual fishing derby for kids. The annual event is a great way to introduce the kids into the sport while having some fun.

31 fishing poles donated
by Downes Tire
Brett Downes, owner of Downes Tire who is a member of the Emlenton Rod & Gun Club this year contributed 31 fishing poles and bait to help kick off this years event.
The fishing derby is held each year at Kahle Lake located just outside of Emlenton.
Members of the Emlenton Rod & Gun Club are on hand to assist the kids as they cast their lines away in hopes of catching the biggest fish.
Each participant has an opportunity to win in a variety of categories which include: Biggest Fish, Most Fish, First Fish Caught, etc.

The first fish caught was by Meadow Wolbert. Age group winners were as follows; T-7 years old category:Most Fish was Owen Swartfager with 5; BiggestFish-Ryleigh Goldthwaite with at 13.5” bass.
8-11 year olds: Most fish by Ellie O’Keefe with 2; Biggest Fish- Bubba O’Keefe with a 14.5 bass. In the 12-15 year olds there were no winners as no fish were caught.
Thanks to the many sponsors, twenty-three kids had a great experience and a new fishing pole to take home.
