The Master of Ceremonies for the grand opening was Barry Louise, Emlenton Borough Council President. Amy Whitehill, chair of the Splash Park project, joined Louise in welcoming everyone to the opening. Whitehill expressed her thanks to the many businesses and individuals who helped make the park a reality. Guest speakers included State Senator Scott Hutchinson, State Representative R. Lee James, Erin Wiley Moyers of the PA Dept. of Conservation and natural Resources, NW Regional Office, and Judy Lentz, Mayor of Emlenton.
The hours of operation will be 11 AM to 8 PM daily, weather permitting.
Amy Whitehill hits the “water on” button and the splash park is officially open. The water remains on for 3 minutes. To restart, just hit the button again.
A list of rules for the park are posted on the wall of the park building. Since there are no lifeguards on duty, anyone using the park will do so at their own risk. If there is an emergency you are to call 911. Children under the age of 13 must have an adult supervising them at all time. The borough also asks that you call the borough office at 724-867-8611 to report maintenance concerns and vandalism.
The event was topped off by wishing Amy Whitehill a Happy Birthday, as July 29th is also her birthday. And everyone there gave many, many thanks to Amy for all of her hard work in making the Splash Park a reality.
