Eric “Red” Chambers

Eric “Red” Chambers, 74, of Waco, Texas formerly of Emlenton, passed away Wednesday, November 17, 2021.

Eric was born on May 6, 1947. He was the son of the late William and Vivian McGinnis Chambers.

Red joined the United States Air Force right out of high school and was immediately deployed to Vietnam, where he was stationed in Thailand. He served our country proudly during his 25 years of military service. He retired as a Master Sergeant in 1991, but his allegiance to our country did not end. He honored the United States flag and taught us to do the same. The National Anthem would bring tears of pride to his eyes, just knowing just what it meant to serve.

For the next 21 years, he worked in Waco, Texas, at an aircraft restoration company, where he finally retired.

He is survived by his wife of nearly 50 years, Peggy Shearer Chambers; two daughters, Shawntell Parrish and her husband, Scott, of Hewitt, Texas, and Nichole Chambers of Waco, Texas. He is also survived by 2 grandsons whom he loved more than life itself, Eric Rodriguez and his wife, Elizabeth, and Tony Rodriguez (who could get his Papa to tell him things that he would tell no others), both of Waco. He also has 2 great-grandsons who were his pride and joy, Gavin and Grayson Rodriguez.

Survivors also include 3 brothers, Rick Chambers and his wife, Diane; David Chambers, and Kenny Chambers; 2 sisters, Kathy Ritchey and her husband, Harry; and Faye Michael, all of Pennsylvania.

Preceding him in death, along with his parents, were his grandparents, Wilbur and Rosetta Chambers, Elgin and Helen McGinnis, five brothers, Jerry, Kevin, Ernie, Chuck and Mike Chambers, and one who became like a brother, and left too soon, John Michael.

Friends will be received at the Hile Funeral Home Inc., 1204 Kerr Ave., Emlenton, from 1 – 3 p.m. Tuesday, November 23. A service of committal with military honors accorded by the V.E.T.S. Honor Guard of Franklin will follow from the funeral home at 3:00 p.m. with the Rev. Charles Cline, pastor of the Parker Presbyterian Church, officiating. Interment will be in Allegheny Cemetery, Allegheny Twp., Butler County.
