& Improving Fly Casting Skills
June 8, 2024 - Casting instruction and demonstration of each cast.
June 15, 2024 - Practice on the course, instruction where needed (optional assessment)
The Casting Skills Development will be held at the Cranberry High School, 1 Education Drive, Seneca, PA from 10:00 AM - Noon. Ages 12-17 must be accompanied by an adult.
Foundation Level.
A great starting place for those picking up a fly rod for the first time, or a beginner with some fishing experience. We work towards an understanding of loop formation, loop control, accuracy, and changing casting direction. For this program we will have fly fishing outfits available to use.
Bronze Level
Casting Instruction will be by Master Certified Casting Instructor Gary Kell and additional FFI Certified Instructor Bob Anderson. All participants at the Bronze Level must have their own equipment.
1. Pick up and Lay Down Cast - Dominant and Non-Dominant side - 35 ft.
2. Horizontal Pick Up and Lay Down Cast - 35 ft.
3. Shooting Line to 40 ft.
4. Accuracy @ 25 & 35 ft.
5. Roll Cast to 35 ft. - Dominate Side
6. Distance cast to 50+ ft.
Pre-registration and payment in the amount of $35.00 for the Foundation Level and $50.00 for the Bronze and Silver Level must be paid prior to the June 8th start date.
