Gerald E. Dunkle

MECHANICVILLE- Gerald E. Dunkle, of Mechanicville, NY, formerly of Callensburg, passed away peacefully after a long decline in health on Sunday, October 24, 2021.
Born April 20, 1923, in Callensburg, he was the son of the late Thomas Dunkle and the late Helen Wilson Dunkle. He was a graduate of Sligo High School and Clarion State Teachers College class of 1947.
Gerald worked for several years on the Penna. Railroad and then went on to teach science and other subjects at the A-C Valley School District in Parker and later on at the new high school in Foxburg where he retired in 1990.
Gerald loved the outdoors and was an expert in the trees and plants in the local area and enjoyed hunting as well as building muzzleloading rifles and working on projects in his workshop.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Martha Say Dunkle, and his sister Marcella Dunkle Matson. He is survived by his son, Thomas Dunkle, his wife Barbara, grandson Gordon all of Mechanicville, N. Y. and granddaughter Maryellen Dunkle of Jacksonville, Florida, as well as his niece, Robin Deloe of Callensburg, Pa. He is also survived by several nieces and a nephew by marriage. Cindy Say of Clarion, Diana Micklos of Kossuth, Sharon Whipple of Morrisdale, PA, Julie Roohi, and Mark Roohi both of Wake Forest, NC.
A graveside memorial service will be held in the Spring at the convenience of the family.
