The Karns City Jr. High Lady Gremlins were victorious this season with an undefeated (16-0) regular season record. The team led by Coach Chris Bellis, consisted of six 7th graders, and 4 returning eighth graders. The team contributes a lot of its success to the hard work they put in during the off-season. More than half the team attended the Butler Cubs basketball program, coached by Dick Hartung, this summer to improve their skills. They also accredit the success of the junior high program to the solid elementary program at Karns City.

Coach Chris Bellis liked the effort put forth by his squad. "Our girls worked hard in the off-season and that hard work led to success during the season."

"This group of kids played well as a team, every player found a way to contribute to the team's success."

One player who made a substantial impact on the team was 7th grader, Allison Surman. Surman, 5’7", is very versatile and works well at both the center and forward positions. “I wanted to improve my ball-handling skills this year and get more opportunities to get to the hoop,” said Surman. Surman, (pictured below) was a pivotal asset to the team and brought the aggressiveness, intensity, and teamwork needed to win games this year.

The Lady Gremlins finished the season strong with a 31-13 win over the Lady Damsels. These young ladies have proven that hard work pays off. They take pride in the long-standing tradition of Karns City’s strong basketball legacy. Congratulations Lady Gremlins and we look forward to your continued success.
