It was an outpouring of honor for a well respected member of the Parker and surrounding community. On Friday, August 21st, Jay Raymond Whyte a long time Parker Fireman and well known businessman was laid to eternal rest.
He lived his life by the call of the siren and fittingly, he was laid to rest the same way. For Jay it wouldn’t be any other way. He committed his life to helping others, serving an unprecedented forty-three years with the Parker City Volunteer Fire Department. He also was an EMT serving thirty-seven years making a difference in so many lives.
Jay got a so called “taste” of his life-long journey in the grocery business in 1968 at the age of fourteen by helping his father, Jim Whyte. For Jay, it would end up being a career spanning nearly forty-nine years.
He and his wife, Diane sold their store in 2017 and retired to South Carolina.
Jay endured a long battle with Polycystic Kidney Disease but his kindness always showed through, always volunteering to help someone in need.
