With another Horsethief Days in the books I would like to thank the same, older and tired committee members that put this on every year! Most of the committee has been doing this for over 20 years! Nothing more I want than having some new and fresh perspective on what we can do to make Horsethief Days better next year! The meeting to wrap this year up and set next year dates will be Sept. 16th at the Borough starting at 6:30 pm. All are welcome! Ideas would be nice and we need new members willing to help!
Planning this event is the easy part. Without the Fire Company, Terry Kahle, Knox Borough Maintenance/ Police/ Secretary/ Council, and the committee getting all the logistics such as speaker system set up, Main Street Stage, and getting permissions to use lots, electric, and water this event wouldn't happen!! Every day of the event people have to close and open streets, open and shut the stage, and try and please everyone!! So if you can attend the meeting with pros/cons this year that would be great!
Ball Tourney and Main Street Church Service started us off on a good note this year being well attended!
Tuesday night Corn Hole Tournament was well received even with the rain and the threat of rain!
Wednesday sadly when we made the call to cancel all events for safety concerns after looking at the weather summary!
Thursday Lion's Bike Races and Power Wheels had some slight rain. The band was great but as of late we can't seem to get many to turn out for a free concert! We as a committee can't seem to understand why!
Friday the John Winkler Memorial Car show and Bike Night was packed and the weather was perfect! Billy and the Neptunes took to the Main Street Stage to rock the house! Good music, food, and nice looking cars and Motorcycles how could you go wrong!! WOWSER!!
Saturday we were invaded by the "Jeep Invasion" on Main Street with vendors on East Penn Ave. Had great weather, food, and Route 8 Band put on an awesome show on the Main Street Stage! Knox Volunteer Fire Company Parade started at 5:30 and was a great parade! The Soccer game at the High School, and another awesome Peak Pyro Productions by Kellner's Fireworks to end this years Horsethief Days!
I always look forward to Horsethief Days but I'll be happy when all those I listed above will tear down all the stuff we put up and get it put away for another year.
Thanks to all that participated or helped in this years event! Big shout out to our sponsors who make this all happen! It's nice to see the community coming together for some laughs and conversation!!
Thanks Knoxerland!!
