Looking for Members - Sausage Sale - Helping Our Community
PACSO, or Parker Area Community Service Organization, has been impacted by Covid-19 Pandemic just as all other service organizations have been affected. PACSO is the service organization that followed the closure of the former Parker Rotary service club a number of years ago. The primary purpose or goal of PACSO is to attempt to raise monies to assist with projects to care for the less fortunate at holidays, care for the GAR Cemetery, assist the Veterans Home at Cowansville, Pa., and provide provide recognition of residents at Parker Personal Care and the Parker Heights.
PACSO was fortunate this 2020 season to have sufficient funds to pay for the maintenance of the GAR Cemetery. PACSO was blessed to have the people who do the mowing and trimming of the cemetery work with the organization in a timely manner as per payment for services rendered. We hope to continue this project in association with the local VFW/American Legion posts who suffered financially during this Pandemic also.
Unfortunately, PACSO will not be able to do all the projects during the Holiday Season that we have done in the past. We shall attempt with projects on a more limited basis. We are planning our Annual Sausage/Bacon Sale of November to raise some money to increase our financial stability. If anyone would like to make a monetary donation to PACSO, they may do so at our Parker Post Office address. BUT, money is not our only problem in making this non-profit organization available to the area. We operate with less than eleven members, and ”burn-out” of time and resources of these members in inevitable. To maintain PACSO for the future, we need members. Two faithful members are from Emlenton, two from Eau Claire, one ACV teacher, and the remainder from Parker.
PACSO meets the first Wednesday of each month at the Parker House Hotel at 6:00 PM. We have a delicious dinner prepared by Diane Cratty and staff, a business meeting, and be on our way. If anyone is interested keeping this vital organization alive in this area, please contact President Joyce Laverick or others you may know affiliated with PACSO.
