Parker VFW / American Legion Church Service and Memorial Day Services
On Sunday, May 28, 2023, Memorial Day Service will be held at the Park Hill First Church of God church, West Freedom at 10:45 a.m. Local pastors and men of VFW-American Legion will conduct service. A local pastor will be honored at this service. Guest speaker will be Pastor Chuck Cline of Parker-Eau Claire Presbyterian churches. He is a Vietnam Veteran, VFW Chaplain, and supporter of the Circle of Friends.
As in previous years, Veterans of wartime and peace time are invited to join fellow veterans of the VFW-American Legion in this service. Uniforms are not required, and this is an open participation of any or all Honorably Discharged Veterans of ALL branches of the military service.
We urge all members of the community to come and Worship at this service, as the members of the two Posts greatly appreciate the efforts of the Reverend Clergy who graciously have worked diligently to bring this Service of Remembrance to fruition.
Monday, May 29 will be remembered by VFW Post 7073 and American Legion Post 598 by the return of visits to several cemeteries and memorials as in pre-Pandemic years. Services will be held at 8:15 a.m. at Concord Cemetery, continuing to Callensburg, West Freedom, Perryville Cemetery (wreath laying only), the Parker Bridge (wreath dropping from bridge only), Eldorado, Six Points, Allegheny Cemetery, GAR-Pkr. (wreath laying only), Roy Calvin McGinnis Post, and ending at Memorial at Parker Personal Care Home at 11:30 a.m. Times are listed below.
