Perry Township Historical Society will present a “Photo Gallery” on Saturday, August 21, from 10 to 6, at the West Freedom Park as part of the township’s Community Days weekend.
Hundreds of historical pictures will be on display and a “What Is It” table of unique antique items will be displayed for identification. The two-room West Freedom school will be open for browsing or people can participate in narrated visits at 10:00 and 3:00. A hay wagon will be available for transportation from the park to the school. In addition, Sally Jordan Reed will portray pioneer Sarah McKibben in “Rapping About Our Roots” on the stage at 1:00. The McKibbens were among the first township settlers and Ms. Reed will reveal how many residents are related to one another.
West Freedom is located on Route 368 between Callensburg and Parker. All events are free. There will be historical booklets for sale including the “One- and Two-Room Schools of Perry Township” and a compilation of the men of the township who served in the Civil War.
