Samuel and Peggy Weckerly to Celebrate 50th Wedding Anniversary

Samuel and Peggy Weckerly

Samuel and Peggy Weckerly will be celebrating 50 years of marriage on November 20, 2021. They were married on November 20, 1971 in Springfield Massachusetts.

They are the parents of Kelly (Larry) Fair, Jason and Keith Weckerly. The couple has ten grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Sam graduated in 1961 from Allegheny-Clarion Valley High School. After 35 plus years of driving an 18 wheeler up and down the east coast, he decided to retire. Most of his truck driving years were with Kasmock Trucking of Emlenton, Pa.

Peggy graduated in 1968 from Allegheny-Clarion Valley High School. After raising her children she also went out on the road as a driver for Clarion County Transportation and then retiring from the Nutrition Group from Ford City. In her 13 years at both agencies she mostly worked out of the Rimersburg Senior Center Senior Center delivering meals and taking clients to doctor appointments or grocery shopping. She was a blessing to those she served and they missed her greatly when she retired.

The couple has always had an open door policy at their home as all were welcome. Peggy is well noted for being “The inn Keeper”, as she has had several family members in need of a home and she opened hers always with loving open arms.

The couple spends their retirement enjoying having their morning coffee at the kitchen table while scrolling in their tablets either playing games or catching up on the latest gossip on Facebook.

The couple renewed their vows on their 25th wedding anniversary on November 23, 1996 with a church wedding and reception given by their children at the Perryville United Methodist Church and Perryville Legion Hall. Another celebration was held on Saturday, November 13, 2021 at the Rimersburg Community Building to honor their 59th wedding anniversary.

Thank you to everyone for making this surprise party a special celebration.
