STEPHEN L. PROKAY, 85, of Hilliards, Pa. was called home to be with the Lord on Monday, Dec. 7, 2020.
Born in Punxsutawney, Pa. on Feb. 18, 1935, he was son of the late Stephen and Margaret Cokley Prokay. With the passing of his Mother at a young age, he was reared by his maternal grandparents, Charles Ellery and Fannie Thompson Cokley.
He was a member of the Ridgeville United Methodist Church.
Stephen served in the PA National Guard. He also worked many different jobs throughout the years as a milkman, pipeline worker, janitor, welder at former Pullman-Standard, and as a construction worker for Warner and Warner until his retirement.
Stephen enjoyed working on several projects in his garage after retirement. He also liked going fishing, canoeing, playing pinochle, camping, visiting with friends, spending time with his family and his puppy “Duke”, and most of all loved to talk with anyone who would listen. He served as coach for the baseball team his sons played on, and was a wonderful, supportive husband and father to his family.
His wife Emma J. Prokay, of sixty-six years, preceded him in death on October 21, 2020. Thus, he survived by three sons, Steven (Tina) Prokay, Mark (Carol) Prokay, Mike (Jane) Prokay, and one daughter Tammy (Ron) Bowser; six grandsons: Tyler, Christopher, Ryan, Colton, Ethan, and Ira; one granddaughter: Shelby; three great-granddaughters: Elsie, Ayla, and Fable, four great-grandsons: Isaac, Nolan, Caleb, and Jude. Also survived by two brothers, Emery and Richard and one sister Betty.
In addition to parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his daughter Donna “Chrissy” Prokay, a grandson, great-grandson, and daughter-in-law.
Arrangements are private, and private burial will be held at Rosewood Cemetery in Ridgeville. The family is being assisted at this time by staff of Buzard Funeral Home of Eau Claire.
