The Church of The Living God

At the Martinsburg Church of Bruin, we believe the Church of the one true and living God to be, “…the pillar and ground of (all) truth (1 Tim.3:15). We also believe that God’s Church is anchored in the truth, power and “rock” of Jesus Christ, His only begotten Son (Mat.16:18; John 3:16).

We premise this approach on three fundamental doctrines of the Christian Faith: The divine inspiration, inerrancy and infallibility of God’s word (2 Tim. 3:16; Ps. 119:160; 2 Peter 1:20-21); the atoning blood of Jesus Christ (Heb.2:14-17); and the believer’s blessed hope of everlasting life, made sure by the glorious resurrection of Jesus Christ (1 Cor.15:55-58).

As we attempt to process and navigate the swirling confusion and rapidly shifting sands of American life and culture today, the need for God’s word in the hearts and minds of America and her people has never been more apparent. The Bible tells us, “Where there is no vision (spiritual message or revelation), the people perish (Proverbs 29:18). America and her people are “perishing” today for lack of spiritual “light” and direction.

The shroud of spiritual darkness and uncertainty that envelopes our nation today can be lifted only by the light of God (1 John 1:5) and His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ (John 1:4). In God, there is no darkness; and in Christ, there is not only light, but life for all mankind. This is the message of revelation that God and His Son want America and her people to see and hear this very day.

The word of God commands pastors to, “Preach the word, be ready at all times; …exhort (preach) with all long-suffering and (sound) doctrine (2 Tim.4:2).” We are not to preach what the world wants to hear, we are to preach what the world needs to hear!

We are to preach that the word of God is true and eternal (Ps.119:160). We are to preach that the word of God comes from His very breath and is of no human origin (2 Tim.3:16; 2 Peter 1:20-21). We are to preach that Jesus Christ is the only way to God, the manifestation of all truth and the giver of life and light to all mankind (John 14:6; 1:4).

This is the message of God and this is the message of Martinsburg Church of Bruin. We are an independent Bible believing Church with a clear and simple mission: “Preach the word and love the people.”
