To the editor: Great Gun Raffle Event

Dear Editor,

Hats off to the Chicora VFD for a great gun raffle event on Saturday, August 26th.

I have never attended this event but I am a frequent attendee of many gun raffles in the area. I was happy to see such a superb turnout. I would guess about 1500 in attendance. Weather was a huge factor, clear sunny skies. Bad weather can simply make or break the bank.

As with many gun raffles just getting people to attend is the key to the success. Personal tents pitched along the side of the event seemed like a great way for people to sit and enjoy the day, great idea!

With many raffles throughout the day, all in attendance had many chances to prize out!

The food provided by Fairground Market Catering was simply outstanding with the wings topping off as my favorite.

We live in a great area with tremendous community support. First Responders are an integral part of our community who put their lives on the line to help those in need.

As with all area Fire Department events it is great to see such a positive turnout and help those who unselfishly give of themselves every day!

Hats off to all of those who organized, planned and came together for the common good of the Chicora Community.
