Wolf’s YES Program Visits The Progress News

Kirsten Wolfe of Wolfe’s Youth Employability Solution.

Pictured here is Kirsten Wolfe of Wolfe’s Youth Employability Solution.(WYES) Kirsten brought 4 youths with her (Not pictured) to tour The Progress News and Staab Typographic, last Wednesday. Some of the youth have expressed an interest in the graphics and publishing industry. Kirsten and the youth had many questions about the processes used today in the printing and publishing industry. They were shown some bindery equipment, such as the folder shown here in the photo. They also were shown a perfect binding machine for applying the cover on a paperback book. They were shown machines from the days of hot metal printing, letterpress, offset printing, and a new digital machine for printing. They were also exposed to some of the computer programs that are used for graphic design and page layout.

Earlier in the day they met with Jake Hickman of Hickman Lumber, Emlenton PA, and toured parts of their sawmill.

Wolfe’s Youth Employability Solution is owned by Dave and Kirsten Wolfe. Their goals are to provide paid work experiences as well as work-based training for school-age special needs students.
