Anthony Joseph Neff, 95, of Chicora, peacefully went to be with the Lord on Friday, March 27, 2026. He passed away in the comfort of his home with his loving family by his side.

Born in Chicora on January 25, 1931, he was the son of the late Charles Neff and Regina Ritzert Neff.

Anthony attended Butler Business School before enlisting in the U.S. Air Force. He worked at Pullman Standard until it closed, and then he was employed at Walsh Equipment until his retirement.

Anthony was a lifelong member of St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church in the village of North Oakland, where he was an altar server since the age of seven.

He was a devout man who daily prayed the Rosary and the Chaplet of Divine Mercy and watched Mass on television. He belonged to the Holy Name Society, and he was a life member of the Knights of Columbus.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Roberta Barnes Neff, whom he married Oct.12, 1963, at St. Joseph Church; his son, Reverend Steven V. Neff, of Pittsburgh; his daughter Rebecca Zedreck and her husband, Jerry, of Prospect; son-in-law, DeWitt Schnell, of Chicora; four grandchildren, Emily Schnell, Melissa Timblin, Nicole Kuctha and her husband, Jason, and Christopher Zedreck and his wife, Amanda: six great-grandchildren, Wyatt and Logan Timblin, Brynn and Jaxson Kuctha, and Hunter and Racer Zedreck; one brother, Jack Neff and his wife, Bonnie; one sister, Marcella “Sally” Desmond; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Toni Josephine Schnell, and Toni’s two infant sons; three sisters, Josephine Neff, Clare Marie Neff, and Mary Elizabeth Mulligan; and nine brothers, Bill, Harry, Richard, Elmer, George, Stephen, David, Morris, and Joseph Neff.

A prayerful and faithful man, Anthony was eagerly looking forward to seeing all his loved ones who passed away, especially his dear mom, Regina, his beloved daughter, Toni Jo, and the Blessed Mother.

The family thanks Good Samaritan Hospice, especially Niki, Tammy, and Patty, for their excellent care; Anthony’s caregivers, Missy and Marsha; and the great neighbors who were by our side during the final months of Anthony’s life.

Visitation took place at the Martin Funeral Home Downtown, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler, on Sunday, March 29.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Monday, March 30, at Saint Clare of Assisi Parish, St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, 864 Chicora Rd., North Oakland, with his son, Rev. Steven V. Neff, officiating.

Military Honors were accorded at the church by American Legion Post 642 of Chicora and American Legion Post 488 of Brady’s Bend.

Interment was in St. Joseph Cemetery.
