ARCA is grateful for the very generous donation of long-time and devoted patrons, Linda and Michael Bradley, sponsoring the return of Chantal Joseph with Steel City Calypso to Lincoln Hall.

Steel City Calypso performs everything from traditional calypso music from the island of Trinidad to a variety of music from different parts of the Caribbean and Brazil. This performance will focus on the history and role of steel drums in Trinidad and Tobago, where steel drums are the national instrument. Steel City Calypso has performed with Chantal at Con Alma and at Alphabet City.

Voted ‘Best R&B Performer’ in both 2021 and 2024 (Pittsburgh City Paper), Chantal Joseph is a singer-songwriter whose voice, musical passion, versatility and inner-and-outer beauty are matched by her warmth and radiant personality. Originally from Cape Cod, Chantal has performed at the Newport Jazz Festival, Indiana Jazz Festival, with the Boston Pops and Cape Symphony, and has toured with the Perry Rossi Orchestra.

Hot and in high demand in Pittsburgh, Chantal has been dazzling audiences and is a favorite at The Fairmont, City Winery, The Brick Shop, Carnegie Music Hall, Greer Cabaret Theatre Lounge, Edgewood Winery, Con Alma and appears weekly at Eddie V’s.

She has performed at Jergels in a concert with the tribute band Michael/Janet Jackson, starred in in a Valentine’s Show at Lincoln Park Center for the Performing Arts, and performed in A Celebration of Billy Strayhorn & Gene Kelly plus a Whitney Houston Tribute directed by Dwayne Fulton – both at the Kelly Strayhorn Theatre.

This versatile and consummate vocal artist thrives on collaborations with Pittsburgh musicians and at the City Winery, Chantal wowed the audience by also playing drums in a tribute to the versatile singer, song-writer and pianist Nina Simone.

While versatile in her craft as a vocalist, studio recording artist and songwriter, she is passionate about community outreach and giving back. Her motivation lies in spreading positivity, inspiration, and empowerment to young and old alike.

In the midst of the 2020 COVID crisis, Chantal founded a non-profit organization called the Giving Grace Foundation! Its mission is to empower the youth from under-served and at-risk backgrounds through arts and education workshops and scholarship opportunities.
