ARCA Presents: David Mayfield Parade – Bluegrass Showmanship & Entertainment

ree

This is joyous Bluegrass summer entertainment at its BEST, as The David Mayfield Parade returns to Lincoln Hall on Saturday, July 12, 2025 at 7:30 PM with Bluegrass Showmanship that is “A combination of music and comedy worthy of a traveling vaudeville act” (Boston Globe).

Praised by Bluegrass Today, “Without a doubt, one of the most kinetic and entertaining live shows on the bluegrass scene,” The David Mayfield Parade builds on their solid roots as virtuosic musicians, combining that bluegrass background on the cutting edge of indie folk and rock with David’s trademark humor and showmanship.

They will be performing works from their newly released album “Go Big & Go Home” with signature virtuosic instrumentals and refreshing song writing from both David Mayfield and resonator guitarist, Ryan Wallen. This is world class comedy and bluegrass entertainment that redefines the genre, sets a new bar, and deserves a huge national stage… and ARCA is proud to be bringing them back to Lincoln Hall for summer-time Bluegrass FUN!

This massively skilled picker and singer with a knack for stagecraft – known for his “acoustic, beardy goodness”, David Mayfield and his band are an ARCA audience favorite. In their last two SOLD OUT performances in Lincoln Hall, to close out the show, David led the band into the audience where they serenaded the bluegrass lovers in the center aisle – before leading the audience out to the patio, where they performed several tunes as attendees left Lincoln Hall, lingering for the “after-show”.

Hailed as ”…the wild man of Americana” by The Independent. ARCA Executive Director John Soroka says of Mayfield’s blazing musicianship, energy and physical showmanship: ”Think of him as the Mick Jagger of Bluegrass – but with a country-down-home goodness.”

Anyone who has seen The David Mayfield Parde perform has caught the charisma, the heart, and the comedy, and will be coming back for more. If you haven’t discovered them yet, bring all your Folk – Indie – Roots - and Bluegrass-loving friends for an evening of joyous bluegrass entertainment.

Tickets: Adults $25, ARCA Members $20, Students $5. Buy online at alleghenyriverstone.org or call 724-659-3153 to reserve and pay with cash/check at the door.

Ohio-based Americana singer/songwriter David Mayfield has deep roots in the bluegrass and folk scenes. The Kent, OH native grew up playing bass and touring with his family’s bluegrass band and as a teenager, established himself as a hot picker and collecting national awards for his dexterity and deft flat-picking style on guitar and mandolin.

His knack for colorful performances was evident as a backing player in his sister Jessica Lea Mayfield’s band, including their appearance on ”The Late Show with David Letterman.” He oozed personality on stage – a trait that makes him a natural frontman. David took his skills and personality when he joined the bluegrass outfit Cadillac Sky, playing sold out shows with British folk revivalists Mumford and Sons.

Around then, Mayfield began writing songs after hearing artists like Randy Newman and Simon & Garfunkel. Encouraged by his sister Jessica and friend Seth Avett to record his original material, Mayfield did just that, garnering much acclaim. Since then, he has toured almost non-stop. Conscious of not just being a musician, but an entertainer – something his father instilled in him in the family band – he certainly makes an impression.  But it’s the strength of his songwriting and musicianship, combined with that charm and personality that keep audiences consistently lining up to join the parade.

Back by popular demand, experience the return of The David Mayfield Parade right here in in the air-conditioned comfort of Foxburg’s Lincoln Hall, where every seat in the house is up close and personal.
