Armstrong County Veteran Stand Down

An Armstrong County Veteran Stand Down event is being planned by the Armstrong County Stand Down Planning Committee. The event is scheduled to occur on Friday, September 19th, 2025, at the Kittanning Township Fire Hall from 10:00 AM to 1:00 P.M. The committee is encouraging veterans to save the date.
A Stand Down is a community based resource event intended to help prepare homeless Veterans in a particular area enter the coldest months of the year by providing them with socks, jackets, gloves, hats, and other gear. Additionally, the event serves as a resources expo to connect these affected Veterans with local resources that may be able to assist them in overcoming the barriers that are causing their homelessness.
Some of the resources that will be on hand will be the housing providers, employment counselors, healthcare providers, as well as local, state, and federal agencies that provide Veteran base supportive services such as the Department of Veteran Affairs and others.
