Charles E. “Chuck” Waldroup, 85, of Chicora, passed away late Monday evening, March 27, 2023, at the Chicora Medical Center. Charles was born in Titusville on March 5, 1938. He was the son of the late Wayne C. and Genevieve Say Waldroup. He was a 1958 graduate of Fairview Twp. Karns City High School and had been a long-time member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Chicora. Charles was a U.S. Army veteran having served in Germany during the Berlin Crisis. Mr. Waldroup was a caring and friendly custodian at the Chicora Elementary School for nearly 40 years, where he was well thought of and highly respected among the school’s students and staff. Chuck enjoyed working for Tom and Tilly Beck, maintaining their garden and flower beds. Charles is survived by his wife, Marjorie L. Scott Waldroup, whom he married on January 7, 1966, at the Karns City United Methodist Church. Also, surviving are his children, Christina L. Ellenberger, Gerald S. Waldroup, and Amanda Hillwig and her husband, Erik, all of Chicora; five grandchildren; one step-grandchild; one step-great-grandchild; two brothers, Harry Waldroup and his wife, Emma, of Karns City and Donald Waldroup and his wife, Cindy, of East Brady; a sister, Mary Stowe and her husband, Chuck, of Parker, as well as a number of nieces, nephews, and cousins, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Frank Waldroup. Friends will be received at the Hile Funeral Home of Karns City, 128 Main St., Karns City, from 5-7 p.m. Thursday. A funeral service will follow from the funeral home at 7 p.m. with the Rev. Joseph Boomhower, pastor of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, officiating.
