Chester L. “Butch” Cornman



Chester L. “Butch” Cornman, 77, of East Brady, formerly of Karns City, passed away late Monday afternoon, January 8, 2024, at Butler Memorial Hospital following a brief illness.

Chester was born in Rimersburg on September 22, 1946.  He was the son of the late Chester H. and Margaret E. Croyle Cornman.

He attended school at the Union School District and had been employed in the parts department at McDonald Motors in Butler, Corbett Builders Supply, and Fairview Twp.

Butch enjoyed camping, country music, and attending bluegrass festivals.  He also loved being “Pop Pop” to his two grandsons and spending time with them.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 50 years, Joyce Darlene Cornman, whom he married at the Karns City Church of God of Prophecy on November 18, 1972.  Mrs. Cornman passed away on October 28, 2022.

He is survived by his daughter, Lindsey A. Cookson, and her husband, Dan, of East Brady; two grandsons, Wyatt and Liam Cookson; an aunt, Alvera Risch of Cleveland, TN, as well as several nieces and nephews, a brother-in-law and a sister-in-law.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by an infant sister, Carolyn Cornman, a brother-in-law, and a sister-in-law.

Friends will be received at the Hile Funeral Home of Karns City, 128 Main St., Karns City, from 1-3 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday, January 11, 2024. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, January 12, 2024, from the funeral home with the Rev. Thomas Kelley, officiating.  Interment will be at Hillview Cemetery in the Village of Kepple’s Corners.
