Clarion County DAR Commemorate the 250th Anniversary of the Boston Tea Party

Members of the Clarion County Daughters of the American Revolution chapter brought a tea cup with them to their December meeting at the Roseville Grange to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the Boston Tea Party.

This momentous event occurred on December 16, 1773 in Griffith’s Wharf as a political statement to protest ‘taxation without representation’. Three hundred and forty-two chests of tea were dumped into the harbor. This forty five tons of tea would be worth over one million dollars.

The national DAR has begun the America 250th Birthday Celebration with numerous activities scheduled which will take place leading up to America’s Sesquicentennial on July 4, 2026.
