Come Learn About the Third Pennsylvania Bird Atlas - March 13

Updated: Mar 4

Come Learn About the Third Pennsylvania Bird Atlas on March 13 at 6:30 PM

CLARION, Pennsylvania: This year, Pennsylvanians have a chance to participate in one of the

largest citizen science efforts undertaken by the Keystone State: the Third Pennsylvania Bird

Atlas. Funded primarily by the Pennsylvania Game Commission, with support from Hawk

Mountain Sanctuary in Kempton and the Pennsylvania Society for Ornithology, the data about

population status and distribution of our birds will inform conservation efforts for many years to come.

Anyone with an interest in birds can participate in the Atlas, joining thousands of other volunteers across the state. Observations can be as close as your own backyard. No advanced knowledge of birds is required, but participants do need to know how to get involved.

That’s precisely what the Seneca Rocks Audubon Society’s free spring program will cover. At 6:30 PM on Wednesday, March 13, at the Clarion Public Library, guest speaker Alejandra Lewandowski will explain how the Atlas works and share tips from her extensive experience with other atlasing efforts. Attendees will leave with a clear understanding of how to sign up and start counting! Alie is sure to have some great stories from her passionate involvement in other citizen science programs, too.

The Clarion Public Library is located at 644 Main Street, Clarion PA, 16214.
