Cynthia R. “Cindy” Smith, 60, of Chicora, passed away Friday morning, September 19, 2025 at UPMC Family Hospice in Lawrenceville.

Cynthia was born in Butler on November 14, 1964. She was the daughter of Richard L. “Rick” Craig Jr. of Chicora and the late Rita K. Mellish Craig.

Cindy graduated from Karns City Area High School in 1983 and attended Butler County Community College and Slippery Rock University. Most recently Cindy had been employed as a secretary at Black Bird Industries in West Sunbury.

She enjoyed crafts, reading, and helping with the Girl Scouts in Chicora.

In addition to her father, she is survived by a daughter, Dakota Craig of Chicora, her paternal grandfather, Richard L. Craig Sr. of Chicora, her fiancé, Anthony “Sam” DiMichele of Butler, and her “stepson,” Sam’s son, Hunter Graham of Butler, as well as a number of aunts, uncles, and cousins.

In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her paternal grandmother, Betty Craig, and her maternal grandparents, Alvin and Ruth Mellish, and an uncle.

A celebration of life service will be held Saturday, October 25 at 11 a.m. at the Hile Funeral Home of Chicora, 339 Chicora Fenelton Rd., Chicora, with her uncle, Charles “Chuck” Craig, presiding. Interment will be in Hemphill Cemetery, Chicora.
