Diocese of Erie Announces Clergy Appointments

The Diocese of Erie has announced clergy appointments and reappointments made by Bishop Lawrence T. Persico, that will take effect later this month.
Appointments
The Most Rev. Lawrence T. Persico, bishop of Erie, has appointed The Rev. Kevin O. Holland, as pastor of St. Charles Parish, New Bethlehem, and its secondary mission church, St. Nicholas, Crates, as well as St. Eusebius Parish, East Brady, with its secondary mission church, St. Richard, Rimersburg. His appointment is effective July 29, 2026, through July 31, 2032. Father Holland will reside at the St. Charles Parish rectory.
Bishop Persico has also appointed The Rev. Joseph A. Petrone as pastor of St. Stephen of Hungary Parish, Erie, effective July 29, 2026, through July 31, 2032. In addition to his pastoral responsibilities, Father Petrone will serve as Assistant Episcopal Master of Ceremonies, while continuing his current ministries as Assistant Chancellor, Judge and Defender of the Bond in the Marriage Tribunal. He will continue to reside at the St. Peter Cathedral rectory.
Reappointment: The Rev. Monsignor David A. Rubino has been reappointed as parochial administrator of All Saints Parish, Waterford, effective immediately through July 31, 2027.
Retirement: After many years of faithful priestly ministry, The Rev. Samuel G. Bungo will retire effective July 29, 2026, and will reside privately in Winburne, Pennsylvania.
Clergy appointments are part of an ongoing process led by Bishop Persico and Father Nicholas Rouch, vicar general and acting director of the Office for Clergy Personnel, in consultation with the Clergy Personnel Board. These assignments are made to best serve the pastoral needs of parishioners while supporting the mission and ministry of the Church across the thirteen counties of the Diocese of Erie.
