For The Girls BBQ Benefit

A Community Gathering to Support Local Cancer Fighters

Clarion, PA – On Sunday, July 6th from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM, Daddy’s Main Street Restaurant in Clarion will transform into a hub of community warmth and solidarity for the For The Girls BBQ Benefit. This event promises not only a feast of mouthwatering flavors but also a heartfelt mission—to support two courageous local cancer patients and their families.

A Celebration of Culinary Talent and Community Spirit Chef Dana Troese will lead the charge in the kitchen alongside Chris Kossman, owner of Fat Plate BBQ. Together, they will craft some of the finest BBQ in the region, while Kareena Ditz—a proud graduate of the Clarion County Career Center and IUP Culinary Arts programs—brings her culinary expertise to the mix. Guests can savor BBQ chicken, pulled pork, baked beans, Mac & Cheese, and coleslaw, all available for just $13.00 per dinner, with takeout options also available. The event will further delight attendees with irresistible desserts for sale and the chance to participate in raffles.

Supporting Local Heroes Every dollar raised during this benefit will directly aid Chelsea Switzer Dukes and Emily Cheke Verner, both of whom have bravely battled recurring cancers while raising families. Chelsea, a Clarion resident, first fought ovarian cancer at 19, later overcame thyroid cancer, and is now facing a recurrence. Meanwhile, Emily, from Strattanville, successfully underwent surgery for a rare form of liver cancer in 2024. However, tests in February 2025 confirmed the cancer’s return, and she is currently undergoing treatment. The proceeds from this event will help defray medical expenses and offer crucial support to both families during these challenging times.
