Gerald A. Hegburg

Gerald A. Hegburg, 85, of Chicora, passed away Wednesday evening, February 4, 2026 at Butler Memorial Hospital.

Gerald was born in Butler on December 10, 1940. He was the son of the late George and Dorothy Phillips Hegburg.

He was a lifelong Chicora resident and attended school in Chicora and Karns City.

In his earlier years he was employed at Butler Burial Service and PennDOT. He retired from International Staple following 35 years of service. Gerald was a longtime member of the Chicora Moose Lodge and enjoyed having a cold beer with friends. He enjoyed playing BINGO, and trying his luck at “rip off” tickets. He was an avid cat lover and enjoyed the company of his nephew’s dog “Bruce”.

Gerald was preceded in death by his wife Helen Barnes Hegburg whom he married in Chicora on August 12, 1978. Mrs. Hegburg passed away on October 30, 1987.

Gerald is survived by a sister Norma Steiner of Parker, his nieces and nephews: Dan Hegburg (Leslie) with whom he was very close, Tina Barger (Doug), Tammy Double (Rob), John Hegburg (Mimi), Don Hegburg (Maria), Linda McNeil (Steve), Robert “Bob” Hegburg (Terry), LeRoy Steiner (Pam), Jeffrey Steiner (Stephanie), Steven Steiner (Michelle), Jerry Steiner (Pam), and Kenneth Steiner (Dawn); a sister -in-law Janet Hegburg of Brookville, as well as a number of great nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers John Pressley Hegburg and William “Bill” Hegburg and his wife Carol, and a brother-in-law Kenneth Steiner.

Friends will be received at the Hile funeral Home of Chicora 339, Chicora Fenelton Rd., Chicora from 4-7 pm Monday, February 9, 2026. A funeral service will follow from the funeral home at 7 pm with Pastor Robert Parton, from Family Life Ministries in Butler, officiating. Interment will be in Hemphill Cemetery Chicora.
