H. James “Jim” McNany, 81, of Murrells Inlet, SC, formerly of the Emlenton area passed away Monday evening, May 19, 2025, at his residence.
Born in Emlenton, PA. on November 23, 1943, he was the son of the late Walter and Tillie Kelly McNany.
He was a 1961 graduate of Allegheny-Clarion Valley School District, then in Emlenton. He then enlisted in the United States Marine Corps serving four years stateside and in Vietnam. He was honorably discharged in 1965 with the rank of Corporal, and was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, the Marine Corps Expeditionary Medal and the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal.
Protestant by faith, Jim was a member of the VFW, American Legion, and Moose all in South Carolina.
Jim was a self-employed contractor for much of his adult life and was employed by the former Witco of Petrolia for over ten years.
Surviving are his wife of fifty-nine years, the former Margaret “Peggy” Kinney; son Brian (Cindy) McNany of Lake City, SC; two grandchildren: Dylan (Erin) McNany of Pittsburgh and Ian McNany of New York City. NY; sister Dona (Donald) Reed of Franklin; brothers: Joseph “Joe” of Emlenton, Ronald (Vickie) of Chicora, and David (Sarah) of Myrtle Beach, as well as a number of nieces and nephews. Also survived by brother-in-law Robert “Buzz” (Eleda) Swank of Butler.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sister Kate and husband Art Hall, brother George and wife Carol, brother Donald “Jake” and wife Sarah, and sister-in-law Kathy A. McNany.
A Memorial Service will be held Friday, May 30, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Buzard Funeral Home, 201 So. Washington St., in Eau Claire with Rev. Art Moffatt officiating. VFW and American Legion of Parker will provide Veteran Honors included in the memorial.
A luncheon will follow the memorial at the Emlenton United Methodist Church, 1303 Kerr Ave. Ext. in Emlenton.
