The Heavens received another angel on August 7, 2025, when cancer warrior, Helen L. Young, was given her heavenly wings and left her earthly home.

Born in Butler on January 17, 1957, she spent her life in the Kaylor/East Brady Area. She was raised by a trio of strong women, her mother, Pearle Claypoole, her grandmother, Virginia Claypoole, and her great-grandmother, Pearl Duffy.

As a child, she grew up in Kaylor where she loved animals, playing with neighborhood friends, and fishing for minnows in the creek. Helen attended Bradys Bend Elementary and East Brady High School. After marrying Leonard Young in 1974, they established their home in the Queenstown area. Their son, David Leonard, joined the family, and she remained in Queenstown until her passing.

Helen was a member of the Queenstown Methodist Church. Her faith was strong and unwavering, having found Christ Jesus as her savior.

All who knew her will remember Helen as a kind and gentle soul. One who enjoyed the simple pleasures of life, a babbling creek, a deer wandering through the field, watching reruns of The Waltons and Little House on the Prairie, and a cool Dr. Pepper on a hot summer day.

Surviving to remember her memory and celebrate her life include her son, David Leonard, one grandson, Elijah, and a large extended family of cousins, especially Dick Claypoole and Alma Plunkard.

She is also survived by close friends, Janet Sandifer, Tina Easley, Cheryl Pistorius, and furry companions, Woofie and the Kitties.

She was preceded in death by her mother and husband, Leonard, who died March 16, 2021.

At Helen's request, all services were private. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.

Arrangements are under the direction of Buechele Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., East Brady, PA.
