In continuation of our community meetings of interest, Scrubgrass Grange will host a program on Human Trafficking on Wednesday, June 18, at 7:00 PM.
Scrubgrass Grange will be hosting Julia Allman, the President of Freedom NWPA, a 501(c) 3 organization that addresses the vulnerabilities that contribute to human trafficking in Venango and surrounding counties. This group was formerly known as See Free and has been educating and equipping community members for the last three years on the dangers of human trafficking through presentations, community conversations, and situational self-defense classes taught by Westover Protection and The Venango County Sheriff’s Office.
The presentation will be approximately 45 minutes long with time for questions and answers, and seeks to bring awareness to the complex issue of human trafficking which is defined as; the force, fraud, coercion, luring, or manipulation of one person for the profit or pleasure of another person. Human trafficking presents itself in every town, city , state across the country and around the world. This presentation gives a global and local view of the issue, and it is recommended that parents use discretion for age appropriateness due to the sensitive nature of the material that will be shared.
Awareness saves lives and the information offered at these presentations helps to equip community members from falling prey to these types of crimes. Bring a friend and in so doing, you do your part to stop human trafficking and modern-day-slavery.
