Joseph C. “Joe” Hesky, 87, of Butler, went peacefully to be with the Lord Sunday afternoon, November 13, 2022 at Good Samaritan Hospice in Cabot while in the presence of his family.
Joseph was born in Butler on September 28, 1935. He was the son of the late Joseph S. and Loretta Hilderbrand Hesky.
He was a graduate of Butler High School. Joe retired from Pullman Standard where he had worked in the welding department. Joe was a skilled carpenter and had been self-employed as a general contractor.
Joseph was preceded in death by his wife of 42 years, Nancy McEvoy Hesky, whom he married in Butler on June 8, 1957. Mrs. Hesky passed away on May 30, 2000.
Joe was a Freemason and a Shriner and was a member of the William H. Miller Lodge #769 F&AM in Butler for more than 25 years. He was a member of the Chicora Moose Lodge, the R.C. Men’s Club in Butler and the Happy Hunter Sportsmen’s Club in Fenelton. Joe looked forward to spending time at his camp in Clarington, Forest County where he had many friends and was a member of the Marienville Vets Club and the Sheffield Rod and Gun Club. Joe enjoyed spending time with his family.
Surviving are four daughters, Sue Black and her husband, Don, of Chicora, Linda Myers of Butler, Jackie Manuel and her boyfriend, Ken Walker, of Butler, and LeeAnn Pfeifer and her husband, Randy, of Chicora; eight grandchildren, D.J. Black and his wife Amy, of Birmingham, AL, David Black and his wife, Amanda, of Fox Chapel, Steve Black and his wife, Lauren, of Gibsonia, Dr. Ryan Pfeifer and his wife, Amber, of Meadville, Taryn Pfeifer of Chicora and her boyfriend Adam Stenerdahl of Sweden, Erik Pfeifer of Chicora, and Kevin Myers and Ashley Myers, both of Butler; six great grandchildren, one sister, Gloria Lewandroski and her husband, Frank, of Cabot; as well as a number of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to his wife and parents, Joe was preceded in death by a son, Joseph E. Hesky, his son-in-law, Tim Myers, and three brothers, Eugene, Donald and Ronald.
Friends will be received at the Hile Funeral Home of Chicora, 339 Chicora Fenelton Rd., Chicora, from 1-3 and 5-7 on Thursday November 17, 2022. A funeral Mass will be celebrated from St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, Butler at 10:00 am on Friday, November 18, 2022 with the Rev. Rick Thompson, Parochial Vicar of All Saints Parish, officiating. The interment will be in St. Peter’s Cemetery, Butler.
