Judith Ann Croskey, 71, of Butler, Pennsylvania, passed away at her home on December 4, 2025, after a period of declining health.
Born January 11, 1954, in Hampton Township to Eugene and Dorothy Croskey, Judy grew up with a passion for softball, the Steelers and the Pirates, especially Roberto Clemente. She had a deep love of the Lord and always kept a favorite verse or hymn nearby.
Judy spent most of her working years as a postal clerk, beginning in Parker before moving to Oil City and eventually relocating to Sarasota, Florida. Later in life, she returned to Pennsylvania to be closer to many of the people she loved the most. She cherished time with her sisters and enjoyed playing Yahtzee and cards, often sharing a game with her dear niece Cindy, whom she considered a sister.
Her greatest pride was her son, Derek Black, and her four grandchildren, Ivy, Lily, Violet, and James Black, who share her love of playing ball and whom she bragged about every chance she got. When she was healthier, she could often be caught at the latest softball/baseball game, cheering on her grandchildren.
Along with her son Derek, his wife Sara and their children, all of Parker, she is survived by her sister Diane Hoover of Spring Hill, Florida; niece Cindy Kulbacki of Gibsonia; nephews Jeff Becker and his wife Debbie of Hampton, and Dave Becker of Saxonburg. She also leaves behind her dear friend, Betsy Lohler of Shaler, and her former husband of 16 years, turned friend, Kenneth Black of Parker.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Dorothy Boyle, Sherry Glunck, and Kathy Jespersen; brother Jimmy Croskey; and her brother-in-law Dan Hoover.
A viewing will be held at King Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 2841 Woodland Circle, Allison Park, PA 15101, from 2 to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, with a service immediately following.
In lieu of flowers, the family feels Judy would wish to honor her late brother, Jimmy, with donations to The Arc of Butler County or another Butler County organization that supports individuals with Down syndrome.
Expressions of sympathy may be shared with Judy’s family at www.kingfuneralhome.com.
