Born in West Freedom on April 3, 1941, he was the son of the late Ronel and Mary Ellen Thompson Callander.

After graduating from Allegheny-Clarion Valley High School, Larry dedicated 42 years as a Diesel Mechanic for Hunter Truck Sales before retiring. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, camping, and taking trips to places such as Florida and out west. Known for “puttering” around, he could fix anything. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Michael Callander; a sister, Faye Marie; a brother, David Callander; and a brother-in-law, Tom Buzard.
