Leading by Example - Thank You Whitehall Camp and Conference Center

Leading by Example: A big thank you to the group of youth campers at Whitehall Camp and Conference Center for volunteering their time to help in the community. The kids spent a couple days in Emlenton at the Crawford Center helping the borough clean up some much needed areas inside the Crawford Center and a few items at The Boy’s and Girl’s Club Along The Allegheny. The kids also spent a couple days at Hughes Park in Emlenton painting the picnic tables.

The kids scrubbed the hallways, cleaned out various closets and took away two truck loads of garbage. They were a big help organizing vintage costumes and props and assisted helping take old files to the storage rooms.

“Helping in the community is a great way for our kids to learn about serving others. It helps kids connect camp with community with the hope of inspiring our kids to go back into their communities to make a difference, stated Ashley Trimmer , Co-Director of Whitehall Camp and Conference Center.

Carol Wilson, secretary of the Emlenton borough who helped coordinate the efforts was pleased with the work and stated, “They were an awesome group of kids to work with and very hard workers. We hope they can come back again next year.

The kids also had a chance to meet and talk with U.S. Congressman Glenn Thompson who was in Emlenton for the day meeting with borough officials.
